As a second-year journalism student, this is where my qualification lies. In addition to the below, I have published written work on the student news site The Linc.
This psychological thriller / horror was written in collaboration with Bronwyn Holmes. It is a film graduation project.
This film is still in its post-production stage.
Time Line
This surrealist dramady was written, produced and directed by me. In it, a university student, worried about the unknown, calls the ‘time line’ to speak with the future, only to realise her answers are in the past.
This film is still in its post-production stage.
Petalled Apologies
My first film, based on a short story she wrote. This drama has elements of surrealism, and follows a young man who learns what his poor apologies mean from an unorthodox florist. I wrote, directed and produced this film.
I have studied using social media at La Trobe University, Australia. This has taught me about creating a strategy, social media management, and understanding what makes engaging content.
As a result, I can manage social media on a consultancy, creator, and management level across multiple platforms.

Trained in videography.
Understanding on composition, lighting, rule of thirds etc.
Storytelling is a way to understand the world. This pursuit of truth through fiction is what has inspired me to write screenplays. That, and the pure joy of it. It’s a labor of love.
Screenwriting is a great way for visual thinkers to explain their ideas. I enjoy everything about it; from the first rough draft to the courier font.
I write reasonably fast. If I have an idea, I can run with it for hours on end. Often the story will develop itself, and so writing becomes an act of discovery.
Credited as screenwriter:
Genre: Drama/Comedy
Genre: Romance/Drama
Genre: Thriller/Horror

Three short film scripts already made (and counting).
Writing for drama, sci-fi, feel-good, comedy & thriller.
Studied screenwriting through:
Reading scripts.
Talking to screenwriters.
Officially and unofficially enrolling in lectures.
Reading books (Save the Cat, Into the Woods etc).
Making films.
Adapted a short story into a film, Petalled Apologies.
I began making films when I started studying journalism at university. It was completely extracurricular and fuelled only by my enthusiasm for filmmaking.
Petalled Apologies was my first short film. It was an incredible experience. Since then, I have been finding ways to improve my directing skills.
I am happy to report that my film sets are often some of the most “smooth, unproblematic and calm” that students have worked on.
Time Line was the first film in which I was both directing and acting. It was enjoyable going between pre-prepared notes, self critiquing, and experimentation. It was a great challenge and opened my eyes to the acting experience. As a result, I aim to take a new layer of empathy to actors when instructing them what to do.
Photography and media goes hand-in-hand. As a journalism student, finding ways to tell stories in a visually interesting way is vital. See the slideshow below for some examples of my work.
I am familiar with using Sony NXCAM-100 cameras, and the standard “mojo” kit – an iphone, tripod, and mic. See below for specific examples.
City of Lincoln Council
I gathered some pictures and footage of a research conference for the City of Lincoln council. The pictures are now used to represent the event via a training poster.
University of Lincoln
I have worked on some video content for the University of Lincoln. Creating a “day in the life of” video, which can be found on their social media.
I have been using Abobe programs since I was 16. This started as Photoshop and InDesign. Now I am proficient in using Premiere Pro, Rush and Audition as well.
Adobe Audition
I learned how to use Adobe Audition for a podcast assessment. This involved removing hesitations, increasing audio levels, normalising, and ensuring the dialogue was clear.
My own podcast was created for the University of Lincoln’s podcasting module. I received a grade of 87 for this. It’s working its way through competitions, so I can’t publish it yet. But if you are interested in hearing it for official reasons, contact me.
Adobe Premiere Pro and Rush
Through my journalism training, I learned the basics of using Premiere Pro. However, I have been learning more through online courses so I can start to edit short films and documentaries.
I have also edited several episodes of my mini travel series through Rush. This is ideal for social media editing as Rush is a quick way to put together videos.
Photoshop
Designing posters and editing photos are things I have done with Adobe Photoshop. I am always happy to work to a brief. In the case of these posters, I created the original concept art and then these.
InDesign
By designing leaflets and booklets, I have learned how to use InDesign. I can create basic designs and have a fair understanding on the program.
